Gwladys supports us in several ways, but I think maybe one of the main ones has been to understand the importance of resilience to leaders. Policy in professional settings and the need to manage difficult people are the factors with which leaders most use their resilience reserves.
As a result of her coaching we get to know ourselves better, to build a positive « emotional culture » in the organization, to understand that successes and failures are rich sources of learning, to cultivate humility in learning with others, to be a born nonconformist and learning always, among other factors.
In particular, we have been taught to delegate more and value the development of young talents and make them understand the importance of knowing how to adapt to different situations in the routine of a leader. “When I met Gwladys, I was 31 years old and had just been promoted to Operations Manager by a team of 30 people. Interviews with Gwladys allowed me to identify some areas for improvement and to take a step back from my job. Indeed by being young in this position, and always in the heat of the action, I concentrated mainly on the result and lacked management bases of people.
I remember one very specific example where the competition was trying to get one of the most essential people out of the project by offering him double his salary. My first SLR would have been to line up with the competition, but after talking with Gwladys, I realized that you should not simply outbid and offer a higher salary, but retain the employee in the company by identifying his desire and develop a career plan. The interviews with Gwladys really allowed me to analyze my behavior, to think about my actions and correct certain habits.”
